Dear Colleagues,

the 25th meeting of the Spacecraft Plasma Interaction Network in Europe (SPINE) will be held on the 25th and 26th of October 2018 at ESTEC (ESCAPE Dance room), Keplerlaan 1, 220AG Noordwijk, The Netherlands

The SPINE workshop is an open forum on new research and technology, needs and plans in the area of spacecraft plasma interactions.

We seek contributions on topics of interest such as :

  • Charging environments and standards
  • Material properties (measurements, databases, new materials, etc ..)
  • Electric propulsion plasma environments, interactions with spacecraft and electrical orbit raising
  • Charging of Cubesats and Nanosats
  • Particle and Wave instrument contamination by plasma plumes effects
  • Plasma instruments and electrostatic cleanliness
  • Charged dusts in space, interactions with space probes
  • SPIS software performance, current and future developments, interoperability with other simulation tools
the above list not being exhaustive. For this 25th edition we propose in addition to hold a specific discussion on the effects of electrical propulsion in the context of orbit raising missions, contributions in all domains being most welcome as usual.

We would like to invite you to indicate your intention to participate and propose contributions (title and author) and/or discussion topics until September 15th 2018 by sending an email to:

The objective of the Spacecraft Plasma Interactions Network in Europe (SPINE) is to share resources and to co-ordinate efforts in all domains related to the interaction of Spacecraft with the space plasma, including spacecraft charging. It is acting as an advisory body for the ESA Space Environment and Effects Network of Competences.
